Ladakh, located on the Northern part
of India, in the heart of Western Himalayas, is an ancient kingdom of
awesome beauty.
The warmth of its inhabitants, the Ladhakis, who will welcome you with a
singing "Juley", equals the difficult conditions of living of the
remote region, isolated during nine months of the year. Half of them adhere
to Buddhism, brought from Tibet some 14 centuries ago.
We invite you to discover the beautifully desolate and remote region by car
or by walk. Among the wonders that dot the enormous landscape are the
Buddhist monasteries, the oldest of which, Lamayuru, is perched at an
altitude of 4 000 meters in a spectacular landscape. To reach there, you
will follow the Indus River, which at some point crosses the way of the
Zanskar River and will pass through villages.
The tour proposed can be in addition to the visit of another more southern
located state. Ladakh can be reached by car from Delhi, through the states
of Uttaranchal and Himachal Pradesh; yet we advise a flight between the two
capitals of Delhi and Leh to enjoy the astounding views over the Himalayas.
